Jake and Tamara reached out to us when they were looking to renew the pitched roof of their home in Streatham, wanting the roof modernised for both energy efficiency and their own peace of mind.
For access to the roof of the terraced home in the middle of the high street we carefully built a scaffold at the back of the property, but were also aided by a roof access hatch built into the roof itself.
We began by stripping away the old tiles and then the old battens and felt, which were well overdue a replacement. Modern battens and lining were put in place, boosting the energy efficiency of the home, and then overlaid with the new tiles.
The ridge tiles were replaced with a dry ridge system, which would help ventilate the roof, resisting moisture build up and providing improved drainage, and complemented by a new dry verge system on the edge of the roof.
Additionally new flaunching (thick mortar to secure the chimney stacks) was applied to the chimney to further protect the interior of the home. Finally the useful roof access hatch was repaired and given new flashing to ensure it was no longer a weak point for the roofs integrity.
Jake and Tamara are thrilled with their upgraded roof and safe in the knowledge that it will protect their home for years to come.
