Leaking Ridge Tile Repair, Purley
Hugh and Zara thought the roof of their home in Purley was in good working condition until they noticed signs of leakage and a persistent draft upstairs.
When they called us we were quick to undertake a full inspection, and we soon discovered a number of minor problems that were adding up to something more severe. However the couple did not need a new roof, or even a full tile replacement, simply a few targeted repairs would bring their old roof up to speed.
The chimney and end tiles were repointed, sealing the interior of the roof from unwanted moisture, and a new PVC fascia was installed at the front of the roof, replacing the water damaged old one. New PVC guttering was also installed around the house, protecting the walls and ensuring water was draining away from the property as it should.
The most important part of the job was the replacement of the ridge tiles, most of which were barely holding onto the roof with crumbling mortar, and doing very little to prevent moisture entering the roof.
We replaced the tiles with a dry ridge system, whereby the new tiles are clamped together over a waterproof lining, ensuring they remain ventilated and preventing moisture build up, and the lack of mortar in the installation of the dry ridge system ensures that they resist weathering.
Hugh and Zara are delighted that their roof has been bought back to full working order with only a few routine repairs and replacements.
